General Race FAQ's

What time does the Race start?

1-Mile Start Time: 8:00 AM
5K Start Time: 8:30 AM
Survivor Celebration: 10:00 AM
Registration and Expo booths will be open from 6:00 AM 10:30 AM

Are dogs allowed at the Race?
The Race is a certified USAT&F event and for the safety of participants, dogs and other pets are not allowed on the Race course. Please keep your pet at home.

How long should the Race take?
Depending on the speed of each participant, runners could complete the 5k from 15 minutes to one hour and walkers will take from 40 minutes to as much as two hours.

What happens in the event of rain?
The event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event there will be no refunds. Your entry fee will be used as a donation to Susan G. Komen Greater Fort Worth.

What is the cost to Register for the Race?

Walker Participant $30*
Runner Participant (includes competitive timing chip) $35*
Sleep in for the Cure® Participant $30*
Kids for the Cure® Participant (12 and under) $20*
Competitive Kids (12 and under, includes timing chip) $25*

*To receive your Race packet in the mail, you must donate $5 to cover the mailing cost, otherwise you will need to pick up in person at the designated areas.

Note: You must register to receive a Race t-shirt and entry bib. Your Registration fee helps to cover the cost of operations but personal giving and fundraising is what enables Komen to save lives here locally.

Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
Due to IRS tax rules, registration fees are not tax-deductible because participants receive entry into the event and a t-shirt.

I registered and have not received my t-shirt and packet yet. When will I get my packet?
If you paid for packet mailing, t-shirts and packets are mailed out in waves according to t-shirt size beginning about 8 weeks prior to the Race and it is very possible that two people at the same address will receive their packets at different times. Do not worry; your packet is on the way! If you have additional registration questions, please send us an email at race@komengreaterfw.org

I registered as an individual, and now I want to join my friend’s team. Can I do that?
Absolutely! Just send us an email at race@komengreaterfw.org or give us a call at 817-735-8580 and we can change your membership to the team of your choice.

How do I register if my company is paying my registration fee?
Your company must contact us to set up your team as corporate pay for online. A special designation will be given to you to provide to registrants. It can be set up for your company to pay a dollar amount or a percent of the fee. The company will be invoiced after the Race. This option is for online registrations only. I registered as a Sleep in for the Cure participant. Can I attend the actual Race?
Yes, you can. Attach your Snooze Bib and please join us!

What are the registration deadlines?
Registration packets will be mailed to participants who register online and pay for $5 shipping up through Thursday, April 16 at noon. After that time, you must print off your registration receipt and bring it in to registration to pick up your registration packet. Click here for packet pick-up information at Luke's Locker.

I have a discount code. Can I use that to register in person at Luke’s Locker Registration?
Unfortunately, no you cannot. All discount codes are only valid with online registration and expire on Friday, April 17. Online registration ends one week prior to the Race on Friday.

Does my infant/child have to register?
If your infant/child can walk then “yes” they must register.

Competitive Runner Info
Timing Chip Chip pick-up is not required. Competitive runners will have bibs that will have a timing mechanism already in them that will register the time when the runner crosses the start & finish lines. If a walker needs to upgrade to competitive status please direct them to the registration tables inside (There is a $5 charge to upgrade to be a timed runner) or they can email race@komengreaterfw.org.

I received the wrong shirt (wrong color, wrong size, etc.). How do I get the correct shirt?
Take your whole packet to Luke’s Locker Monday-Friday of Race week to exchange your items.

Can you guarantee T-shirt sizes?
We do our best! We order shirts based on previous years’ registration numbers by size. Despite our best efforts we do run out of some sizes.

Fundraising FAQ's

Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in an additional $1 million to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community! You may also be eligible for Fundraising Rewards!

Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
Yes! Up to Seventy-five percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs and the remaining Twenty-five percent supports the Komen Award and Research Grants Programs, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Is there a deadline for fundraising?
All donations on your behalf that are received by 30 days following the Race will be credited to your fundraising total.

Teams FAQ's

I registered as an individual, and now I want to join my friend’s team. Can I do that?

How do I form a team?
To be considered an official team, you will need 10 or more registered members by the morning of the Race. You can form a team or join a team online. For more information, contact race@komengreaterfw.org

How do I join or form a team?
If you haven’t registered for the Race yet, you can click here to register online and select “Start a Team” or “Join a Team.” Search for the name of the team you want to join and select it. If you are already registered for the Race, you need to contact race@komengreaterfw.org if you want to form or join a team.

One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
Thank you for registering for the Race. In order to change your registration from individual to team member, please send an email to race@komengreaterfw.org with the individual’s name and the team name they’d like to be added to.

What is a Team Page?
Your Team page is a Web page that people can visit to find a team member or give a donation that supports the fundraising efforts of the entire team. Although the default Team page contains sample text and photos, your Team Captain can customize this page to make it a creative expression of the Team commitment to Komen and our fight against breast cancer.
