Operations Leader – Teaming Focal & Learning Leader at GE Manufacturing Solutions
My name is Joe Mercado, I work for GE Manufacturing Solutions in north Fort Worth where we produce huge 200-ton class 1 freight locomotives. I am a Pink Tie Guy because 32 years ago my wife Sylvia was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was just 29 years old. We have three children, and at the time of the diagnosis, our youngest was just one year old. Sylvia and I began supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation during the second event held in Fort Worth. Now in this 27th year of the Susan G. Komen, annual breast cancer fundraising and awareness More Than Pink Walk, Sylvia and I have agreed to be the 2019 Walk Chairs. I am so grateful to have Sylvia still with me after all these years, to raise three wonderful children and now to be grandparents to six amazing grandsons and one unbelievably precious granddaughter. I ask all men to join me as a Pink Tie Guy so that one day we won’t have to worry about our daughters or granddaughters ever getting this disease. Won’t you join me?
