Vice President of Business Development, Partner of Standard Meat Company
Howard Katz, a 1974 Graduate of The University of Texas, began his foodservice career in 1978 with the original Standard Meat Company owned and operated by the Rosenthal family of Fort Worth, Texas under the leadership of Manny, Rosalyn, and Billy Rosenthal. Currently, he leads business development for SMC’s Saginaw, Texas facility and has been a partner with the current Standard since the business was founded in 1995. Mr. Katz’s business experience includes being part of the original founders of Kettle Cooked Foods in 1989, KPR Foods in 1992, and CTI Foods in 2003.
He and his wife, Joan, have been married since July 1975. Their daughter, Lori, has been married to Brad Sturman since March 2014 and have two children, Samson Alexander and Eliza Margo.
Howard, feels strongly about supporting this community and is on the Frost Advisory Board, Gladney Cup Advisory Board, and a Founder of the Gladney Cup. However, most of all he is the most devoted partner to his wife Joan who is a four time breast cancer survivor ...at the age of 31 when Joan was first diagnosed, he told Joan we will eat this big elephant one bite at a time no matter how tough it is. Joan is a Founder of the Fort Worth Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. Both Howard and Joan are passionate about ending breast cancer. Howard started wearing pink 36 years ago and is happy to be a Pink Tie Guy today.
